Charity fundraiser in Stow

SPECIALIST retailers will be gathering at St Edwards Hall, The Square, Stow, on Sunday to sell their wares in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The event will be held from 10am until 5pm. With goods from around the globe on offer, from hand knotted rugs of Kashmir, cookware from Spain, quirky kitchenware, jewellery, accessories, cashmere shawls and more, there is something for everyone.

Admission is £1 donation for adults, children under 16 free, which also includes entrance into a prize draw.

Event co-ordinator Andrea Wangnoo said: "I have chosen to raise money for Cancer Research UK because we all know someone who's life has been touched by this terrible disease and the work of Cancer Research UK is invaluable in the fight against it.' Maria Parker, Area Volunteer Manager for the area said, "More and more people are recognising the difference Cancer Research UK is making in cancer treatments and prevention. It's great when individuals can combine fundraising, and fun with commerce.

"These individuals have got on board with our vision of Together we will beat cancer' and have grouped together to do something about it. It is an example of how something they do anyway can be used to raise vital funds and help make a real difference to the future of cancer patients.

"Many clubs, societies, individuals, companies and organisations run events which they enjoy, please think of ways that funds can be raised for Cancer Research UK at the same time as having fun," went on Maria, " We are committed to raising the stakes at Cancer Research UK, in order to cure cancer faster, but we cannot do this without the vital support of the public and that is why we commend individuals like Andrea for their initiative and hope others will follow suit."

"More and more we are looking to volunteers to join us in our cost effective fundraising efforts."
